SP&I is a registered security and private investigations company in South Africa. The company is registered with The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA). Our company provides Private Investigation Services to different market segments, as we assist individuals as well as corporate companies, including JSE listed companies with investigations.
SP&I maintains professional working relationships with relevant law-enforcement and prosecutorial authorities in South Africa.
Where appropriate, and subject to the requirements of each matter, we liaise and cooperate with the relevant authorities in connection with matters involving suspected fraud, commercial crime and other related offences.
Our established professional relationships enable us to communicate with the appropriate authorities when required, while ensuring that each matter is handled with discretion, confidentiality and due regard for applicable legal and procedural requirements.
Private Investigations is one of our more specialized and complex service offerings. With extensive experience in many different investigation’s fields, we offer a comprehensive range of investigation services. In the last five years SP&I has conducted investigations relating to: Theft, Murder, Fraud, Cyber related fraud, Missing person, Extortion and blackmail, Arson and Kidnapping.
As registered private investigators, SP&I can be hired by individuals, groups or organizations to conduct investigations on their behalf. Private Investigators gather information, which often helps prove wrong doing, fraud or other criminal activities. For example, businesses often employ a private investigator to help uncover misconduct, company theft or fraud, or general dishonest behavior that could cause the company financial or reputational loss.
All our Private Investigators at SP&I operate within legal and ethical boundaries. This includes respecting individuals’ privacy rights and adhering to relevant legislation such as the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act. Any evidence gathered unlawfully will not be admissible in legal proceedings.
As private investigators we may investigate the identity, actions, character, background or property of another person. Private investigation is one of the specialized subsectors in the South African private security industry, and plays an important role within society. One of our objectives at SP&I and of our Private Investigators, is to protect our client through gathering information, searching public or court records to uncover clues, conducting surveillance, collecting evidence to present in court or to a client, verify employment and income, check for civil judgements and criminal history and investigating computer crimes and information theft. Our private investigators play many roles in order to thrive within the industry. Our investigators are discreet in their line of work, as they need to protect our client, our company as well as themselves.
Another form of Private Investigation that we offer at SP&I, is Insurance Investigations. Our Insurance Investigators examine insurance claims that are suspicious or otherwise in doubt. Some insurance companies have their own in-house investigation teams while other companies sub-contract the work to private investigation firms like SP&I. Although such investigations are usually conducted to combat fraud, very often our investigators will be working simply to establish the circumstances of a particular claim (for example, in a multi-vehicle road accident involving various parties, claims and insurance companies).
